Clay Day report 30 July

18 people attended the Clay Day last Sunday, in spite of summer holidays and road closures. We welcomed 4 new members: Caroline, Emma, Susan and Udayana, and look forward to seeing them at future meetings.

By popular demand, the demonstrations were a follow up from the previous colour projects, with Jude reprising her demos on colour scales and contrasting colours (spots and stripes). She added a new one, 'Instinctual Colour Mixing' which for many of us was a new and vital skill - mixing colours to make accurate matches to those in an inspirational art work or a piece of clothing. All of these are based on the book Colour Inspirations by Lindly Haunani and Maggie Maggio, but Jude had carefully simplified their exercises to make them more accessible for us in a limited amount of time.

Most of us then used the rest of the day to try out what we had seen and by the end of the afternoon we saw some impressive colour reproductions, colour scales and spotted beads. It's going to be great seeing these as finished pieces on the Show and Tell table next Clay Day!

For this Sunday we saw a variety of lovely work on the Show and Tell, and it was particularly good to see two beautiful Perfume Purses from the recent Carol Blackburn workshop.
