Our November Clay Day

It was a cold day last Sunday but the warm atmosphere at our Clay Day made up for the chill outside.

We were treated to some great demos by Alison and Jude.

Alison showed us coasters she had made, a Z-note holder, covered propelling pencils and baubles. She also donated cork bases for the coasters and some poly balls for the baubles as well as providing a template for the note holder. Alison then showed us how to make a ‘simple’ Ikat cane which she used to decorate her bauble.

Jude demonstrated a method of making sure that nobody will make off with your drink if you take your eyes off it. Her delightful glass personalisers in the shape of octopus tentacles were such fun.

It was a real pleasure to see the wonderful work displayed on the Show and Tell table, some of it subtle, some colourful but all so skilfully made.

Many thanks for helping to set up and put away the tables and chairs – it makes a real difference.

We wish all of our members Season’s Greetings and look forward to seeing you in 2018 when the first Clay Day will be on 21st January – watch this space. (Please bring an extruder if you have one – maybe something to put on your list of presents.)

This will ensure that there is a weekend off between the Clay Day and Maggie Maggio’s two day workshop on the 3rd and 4th February.
