About this event

For this Clay Day we will be making figurines, though you can always work on a project of your choice.  We will have some SuperSculpey Living Doll clay for you to try (approx 50g) or you can use your own favourite clay if you prefer. We are delighted that Jan Riordan will be joining us via Zoom (her figurines are pictured above) and will share her tips on how she makes her humorous historical characters (pictured above). It may not be possible to finish a piece on the day but we will provide tips so you can prepare ahead and/or finish at home.

It will be our 15th Birthday so there will be a few additional items to our agenda.

AGENDA:

09:45 - 10:00 Arrive, greetings, Set up. Show and Tell table items to include selected works from the last 15 years (or however long you have been creating with the clay). There will also be a destach table - to give away or exchange items you no longer require.

10:00 - 12:30 Make, experiment, ask questions.

13:00 - 14:30 Continue to make

14:30 - Break for Show and Tell a place to ask questions on how others made their pieces and get advice on your own.

15:00 - 16:00 Continue to make and finish with a review of the day's results.

MATERIALS AND TOOL LIST:

Along with the items on our standard list if you have any of the following please bring along:

  • Any polymer clay veneers that you have made that can be used to dress your figuring
  • A form on which to build the figurine. Jan uses the cardboard tube from inside a toilet roll.
  • Aluminium foil,  a support for the hear (cocktail stick, wooden skewer, thick guage wire will all work).
  • Any sculpting tools you may have - wax carving tools can be useful
  • Anything you like to make textures with
  • Acrylic paint and paint brush - if you get as far as painting the face.
