The Early Bird Catches the Worm!

Following our AGM in July the Steering group met recently and we have come up with various ideas aimed at making our clay days more fun and giving you more reasons to come along.

The first of these is our Early Bird Draw.  Anyone who registers for a clay day more than 2 weeks in advance will be entered in to a draw and the first name pulled out of the hat (or other receptacle depending on what is available!) will get their entrance fee refunded.  We will do this for each clay day and the deadline for our next meeting on 30th September is 5pm this Sunday,16th September.  You do have to turn up to be entered in to the draw!

Looking ahead to our November meeting and since we won’t be too far away from the festive season, we will be having a Christmas Brown Bag Swap.  To take part you need to make something you would feel happy giving as a gift.  On arrival we will put it in to a brown bag so they all look the same.  Everyone who takes part gets to pick a bag (we have a cunning way of ensuring you don’t pick your own) and then we have fun seeing what each other has received. We are letting you know now so that you can start thinking about what you could make.  Ideas include:

  • Jewellery pieces
  • Covered pens
  • Sculptural pieces
  • Christmas decorations
  • Decorated bowls

The only rules are, it must be made by you and polymer clay must be a major element in the design. The finished piece will also need to fit comfortably inside a 25cm x 18cm bag. More details will be communicated at the September meeting and via the website nearer the time.

Looking even further ahead in to 2013 we plan to hold more special workshops and will be introducing some other new ideas in to our regular clay days.

In the meantime, don’t forget to register for our September Clay Day by 5pm, Sunday 16th September by clicking here
