Meeting of the London Polymer Clay Group

26 September 2010

A warm welcome to new members Carol and Wendy

Our first demo of the day was Alison Gallant’s ‘Faux Turquoise’ technique. This was a very well prepared demo, with Alison providing the graters and paints required, so that we could all have a go afterwards, which everyone was keen to do. This was very impressive and also very messy.

After lunch, Emily  showed a technique of reducing irregular canes as seen on YouTube by Idit Zoota and Yonat Dascalu. The smell of the playdough used for this demo brought back many happy childhood memories. Most people found this an intriguing technique.

The afternoon finished around the ‘show and tell’ table. As a few of us had attended Christine’s ‘Pods and Cocoons’ workshop the previous week, these were heavily featured, along with an impressive variety of pieces reflecting the diverse skills and personal styles of everyone.

Don't forget to mark your diary with the date of the next clay day - Sunday 28th November
