I studied textiles at Manchester College of Art and the Royal College of Art and for many years I designed knitted fabrics that were often embellished with beads and buttons.  While visiting a  bead fair I came across a stand showing beads made of polymer clay.  I was awestruck by the techniques being demonstrated.  I wanted to know more so I booked a class.  Now I spend nearly every spare moment in my south London studio 'playing' with polymer clay.

 

My book 'How to Make Polymer Clay Beads' was published in February 2007 (in the USA, 'Making Polymer Clay Beads') and has been translated into Italian and French.
